Convenient and efficient transportation

Prairie Crossing is approximately an hour from Chicago by train or car. There is rail service to Chicago and O’Hare Airport from two stations adjoining the site. Prairie Crossing lies within a triangle of three major roads: Routes 45, 137, and 120. Trails lead to the train stations, the College of Lake County, the University Center of Lake County, the Liberty Prairie Reserve, Grayslake Central High School, and local stores and restaurants. Click here to learn more about transportation at Prairie Crossing.

“I love being able to walk to the train to go downtown or to O’Hare airport. It makes life so much better.”

“When I was commuting into the city from Prairie Crossing, there was a whole group of us on the train each day. I got to know a lot of neighbors during our train rides!”

“The train is awesome – we can live in this amazing community that feels like it’s a world away from our former home in Chicago, but hop on the train and be back in the hustle and bustle of the city in about an hour.”

“Not only does the Metra take you to downtown Chicago – we’re a quick train ride to downtown Grayslake and Libertyville, which works well for teens who can’t drive yet but want to get around independently.”
